Quickly Understand Lomei’s Private label / One-Stop Manufacturing Process
Q1. What are OEM, ODM, OBM, and One-Stop Manufacturing? What are the differences?
In simple terms, these represent different production models. Clients can choose the collaboration type that best suits their needs.
- OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing)
- ODM (Original Design & Manufacturing)
- OBM (Own Brand Manufacturing)
- One-Stop Manufacturing / Full-Service Solution
The client provides the brand and design, and we handle production. Ideal for established brands that only require manufacturing services.
We provide both product design and manufacturing, and the client markets it under their brand. Suitable for brands lacking formulation or product design capabilities.
The manufacturer owns its brand and independently develops, produces, markets, and sells the product. Suitable for companies looking to establish their own brand and maintain full control over quality and profits.
The client provides the brand and concept, and we deliver complete support—from product R&D, raw material sourcing, production, packaging design to quality inspection and shipment. Ideal for brands aiming for fast production or lacking supply chain resources.
Q2. How long does the sampling process take? How many revisions are allowed?
Typically, the first sample is ready within 7–14 business days. After receiving the sample, clients can request adjustments to texture, scent, color, or performance. We usually allow 1–3 revisions depending on product type and R&D requirements to ensure quality and project timelines. For complex active ingredients, challenging textures, or special packaging, sampling and revision times may be longer.
A fee may apply for certain sampling due to R&D, lab equipment maintenance, and raw material costs, and the actual cost will be provided by our sales representative after evaluation.
Q3. Does your company do the testing or registration on behalf of clients?
Products sold in Taiwan, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, or Western markets may need to meet local testing and registration requirements. We can assist in preparing the necessary documentation and provide guidance, but actual testing and regulatory submission are typically performed by third-party. Upon request, we can coordinate and delegate these processes on behalf of our clients.
Q4. If clients provide their own packaging, will the factory assist with compatibility testing?
Yes. When clients supply their own packaging (bottles, boxes, labels, etc.), we perform necessary compatibility and stability testing to evaluate potential reactions with formulations and check for risks such as leakage, odor, discoloration, or filling issues, ensuring that the client-supplied materials generally meet the quality standards before mass production.
It is important to note that testing serves as a preliminary risk assessment to minimize obvious issues. The results are not 100% predictive of mass production, and any issues that arise later cannot be considered a fault of the testing process or the factory.
Q5. Can I customize formulations?
Both options of pre-developed and customized formulation are available. For customization, we offer two modes:
Q6. Can the factory assist the brand with product education or marketing content?
We can provide technical information such as product features, ingredient, usage instructions, and basic function descriptions to support internal brand education or content creation. However, official educational materials, marketing copy, advertising slogans, or claims must be produced and approved by the brand to ensure compliance with market positioning and local regulations. Our role is to provide technical support, not to execute the full marketing strategy on behalf of the brand.
